Thank You Google!

It's become pretty clear that if you want to know anything, there is only one place to turn in this day and age: Google! Well ok, Yahoo, Ask.com and any of the other search engines also work, but I like Google because their name has become a verb and it sounds cool when you say is. For the past three days I have been asking my trusty friend Google a lot of questions as I tried to take a crash course on PHP and Wordpress plugins. The goal was to set up a YoBeat store and a better way to display our links section. The store was actually pretty easy,…

Binge Drinking at its Best

RANDOM WIZARD STAFF PHOTO I try to keep posts on this site of a professional nature and focused on my "career," or at least somewhat related to action sports and/or journalism. But I am currently inspired by something much more frat-tastic and feel I must discuss. This weekend I went to my first Wizard Staff party at the Dudeplex in Portland. I was feeling under the weather so I brought orange juice to add to my beer and failed miserably at making much of a staff (I switched to straight juice after three beers.) But Nate managed to top out his height and a good time was had by all.…

Ok, This is Sort of Funny

The other day I got this message from YouTube: Dear brookegeeryvideos, A copyright owner has claimed it owns some or all of the audio content in your video Battleground Skatepark- May 31, 2008. The audio content identified in your video is Ups & Downs by Saves The Day. We regret to inform you that your video has been blocked from playback due to a music rights issue. Now of all the songs I've used, the fact that it was Saves the Day claiming copyright infringment is quite amazing. Not ACDC or David Bowie or the Jackson 5, no, Saves the Day! A band who's albums I've actually bought (I'll admit…

Mardi Gras in November: An Attempt at a Vacation

The concept of vacation for someone such as myself is a strange one. I make my own hours, do something I love and I travel my fair share for work, and usually to really awesome places. I've been told "Brooke, your whole life is a vacation" on multiple occasions.  And while there may be some truth in that, lately I've been feeling overworked and figured I should go on a trip for no reason other than fun. Ok, that's a lie. I also need to go somewhere to keep my airline status, because as a frequent traveler, I couldn't face the thought of not being premiere and enjoying the perks…

Revolutionizing my business!

In tough times, it's important to increase productivity, diversify and stay on the cutting edge. I've been struggling with how to effectively cover an event in words, photos and video and I think I've finally figured it out. Of course, the fact that this prototype falls off my head if I make the slightest movement might be an issue, but I think it has potential. Plus I look so cool. And that's important when you are trying to stay relevant with the kids.

Out The Window

Here are a couple pictures I've taken of my view lately. I was going to keep taking these photos over time, but then I realized, these are probably the highlights, so it would be all downhill from here. My work office window. It looked like this for about a week. Now it looks depressingly less awesome. So technically this is a door out of my home office. Either way, rainbows are cool.
