<\/a><\/p>\nIt\u2019s often been commented, \u201cYobeat hates Colorado.\u201d So much so that it\u2019s become a running joke every time we feature a CO edit. Now, it\u2019s not entirely to say that we, the staff of Yobeat, hate the place \u2013 it has a few redeeming qualities. Southern Colorado terrain\u00a0is insane, if you wanna ride parks they\u2019re some of the best in the country, and you get drunk way easier at 10,000 feet. But that\u2019s where it stops. The following are all the reasons the Silver State sucks.<\/p>\n
1. Bros<\/strong><\/p>\n You\u2019re sure to run into your fair share of bros at any ski area, comes with the territory, really. But Colorado boasts a special brand of arrogant, drunk, legally-high assholes. Granted most of them are on probably there on vacation from Indiana, but they choose Colorado! That\u2019s gotta say something.<\/p>\n 2. Skiers<\/strong><\/p>\n Skiers are\u00a0everywhere and for the most part harmless, but in Colorado,\u00a0they actually think they\u2019re cool because they ski.<\/p>\n 3. Long Traverses<\/strong><\/p>\n Snowboarders at Vail literally ride with poles.<\/p>\n 4. Lack of snow<\/strong><\/p>\n Now I\u2019m not talking about Southern Colorado, we all know Wolf Creek gets dumped on blah blah blah, but anyone who actually lives in Colorado can tell you those storms are few and far between. And half the time when it snows, the snow is too damn light to actually cover anything.<\/p>\n 5. High Prices<\/strong><\/p>\n $110 for a day ticket? $50 for parking? We\u2019re good.<\/p>\n 6.\u00a0High altitude<\/strong><\/p>\n Summit County is based around 9000 ft. The base lodge at Silverton is at 10k. As we mentioned before, high altitude is great for getting drunk efficiently, but it also makes it hard to breathe, makes putting on your boots the hardest thing ever, and makes it hard to sleep. But the biggest issue with the\u00a0thin air is you just can\u2019t think straight, which may explain why everyone in Colorado is such a kook.<\/p>\n 7. Never Summer<\/strong><\/p>\n Oh you make your snowboards in the US? Cool story. Remember\u00a0when they tried to\u00a0patent reverse camber<\/a>?<\/p>\n 8. Shitty avy conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n When and if it does snow, the Colorado backcountry is\u00a0downright treacherous<\/a>. Stay alive out there, kids.<\/p>\n 9. Rich people<\/strong><\/p>\n With places that are expensive comes the people that can afford them. Now, aside from the \u201ccorest\u201d kids, most snowboarders do come from means, but I\u2019m talking about the shitty\u00a0rich people. The ones that look down on you just because you haven\u2019t taken a shower in a week and you like to have a beer\u00a0on the first chairlift. Yeah them. Fuck them.<\/p>\n 10. Nazi ski patrol<\/strong><\/p>\n Cut a rope? Lose your pass. Go fast? Lose your pass. Have fun? Lose your pass. Now, as I personally know a ski patroller in Colorado who\u2019s almost an\u00a0alright guy, but there are just a few too many rules at the \u201cbig resorts\u201d for me.<\/p>\n 11. It\u2019s cold as fuck<\/strong><\/p>\n Oh cool, high of negative 5 today? Fuck you.<\/p>\n 12. It\u2019s flat as hell<\/strong><\/p>\n This is of course, what causes the long traverses, but even the \u201csteeps\u201d of Summit County are ya know, pretty mellow.<\/p>\n 13. Texans<\/strong><\/p>\n They get even worse due to the lack of Oxygen.<\/p>\n 14. Oxygen Bars<\/strong><\/p>\n I\u2019ve never been in one, but I assume it\u2019s horrible. I mean, they have them in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n 15. It\u2019s windy, everywhere<\/strong><\/p>\n Again, flat + tiny little excuses for trees make for the whipping wind experience that is an\u00a0every day occurrence.<\/p>\n 16. The lift lines at Breck and Keystone<\/strong><\/p>\n Ever been to either place on a weekend? Then you know. You are better off just crushing your own skull under a large truck.<\/p>\n 17. The Traffic on I-70<\/strong><\/p>\n You know what\u2019s the best part of a day riding in Colorado? The six hours you spend in traffic in I-70 to get there from Denver!<\/p>\n 18. General Overhype<\/strong><\/p>\n Local pride is real, so we get it. You love where you live and that\u2019s why you live there. But would it kill you to just be honest with the other people. Hell, maybe it would keep some of them away and solve two of the aforementioned problems.<\/p>\n 19. Vail Resorts<\/strong><\/p>\n Nuff said.<\/p>\n 20. Fake snow totals on the reports<\/strong><\/p>\n Sure, maybe there are 7-inch drifts around your measuring stick, but what you actually mean is \u201ca dusting.\u201d While not entirely a exclusive-to-Colorado phenomenon, resort marketers seem to get extra creative in the Rockies.<\/p>\n 21. 3.2 Beer<\/strong><\/p>\n Yes, you can get real beer in the Liquor store or any of the 40,000 craft breweries, but damn it, I want to pick it up with my groceries, and that shit is 3.2. Worst part, unless someone tells you this, you can spend your whole vacation wondering why you\u2019re not getting drunk, even at 10,000 feet.<\/p>\n 22. Tourists on Weed<\/strong><\/p>\n Tourists are the worst \u2013 always screwing up driving, getting lost, asking stupid questions. And in Colorado, they\u2019re all high as hell. Good luck with that.<\/p>\n 23. Every 13 year-old can double cork<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s just not fair how good these little brats are.<\/p>\n 24. Angry Snowboarder.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Just chill out, dude. Smoke some legal weed perhaps.<\/p>\n 25. Legal Weed<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s not that we\u2019re not in favor of legal weed, as we just mentioned, but we\u2019re pretty sure the feds blew up Leo\u2019s just to prove a point. Not to mention\u00a0the annoying bi-products that have come because of it such as dabs, oils, weed snobs, etc.<\/p>\n 26. Mountain academy kids in general<\/strong><\/p>\n Mountain Academies attract two types of people: rich kids who love to snowboard and rich kids who\u2019s parents think they\u2019re going to be the next Shaun White. And everyone knows, we don\u2019t need\u00a0another Shaun White<\/a>.<\/p>\n 27. Superpipes<\/strong><\/p>\n Remember when we had 9\u2032 halfpipes? That was fun.<\/p>\n 28. CU Boulder<\/strong><\/p>\n Frat boys, college kids, and all the\u00a0shit that goes along with that<\/a>.<\/p>\n 29. People from the Midwest think it\u2019s the only place you can snowboard<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
