But even though breathing was labored and it seems like the world may very well be going to hell in a hand basket, the snow on the Palmer glacier is holding strong and with minimal walking, you can lap the former Windells park until your heart\u2019s content. Don\u2019t wanna hike at all? Don\u2019t blame you \u2013 that air quality is worse than Bejing right now, but you can just rip Palmer midstation laps all day while exerting (almost) no energy. I could ramble all day about how fun it was, but since the Internet hates reading, here are five reasons 2017 was the best damn summer, ever.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_3350.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-55200\" src=\"https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_3350.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"780\" height=\"1040\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_3350.jpg 780w, https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_3350-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_3350-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_3350-550x733.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Doesn\u2019t look like much but compared to the last few years\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>There is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.timberlinelodge.com\/conditions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Plenty of snow<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 As stated, legit snow fall over the winter has seemingly refreshed the Palmer Glacier to its mid 2000\u2019s glory. Hood and this year, they were back! While butterfly-splat on your goggles isn\u2019t that fun, fluttering insects mostly just add to the magic of an already magical experience.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_1842-768x623.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-55202\" src=\"https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_1842-768x623.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"623\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_1842-768x623.jpg 768w, https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_1842-768x623-300x243.jpg 300w, https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/IMG_1842-768x623-550x446.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Wont be the same without the skatepark in town, but whatever, that park sucked anyway.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boardrap.com\/r-i-p-high-cascade-snowboard-camp-reason-trump-global-warming-expenses-snowboardings-decline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">High Cascade got the fuck outta Gov\u2019y<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 In a move that was a long time coming,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boardrap.com\/high-cascade-snowboard-camp-owner-explains-future-summer-snowboarding-endures-our-hearts-are-in-this\/\">HCSC announced<\/a>\u00a0they\u2019d be moving the majority of their campers out of Gov\u2019y and on to the glorious Windells campus, leaving Gov\u2019y to be the haven for adult debauchery you\u2019ve heard rumors about.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-04-at-3.23.05-AM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-55203\" src=\"https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-04-at-3.23.05-AM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1484\" height=\"776\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-04-at-3.23.05-AM.png 1484w, https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-04-at-3.23.05-AM-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-04-at-3.23.05-AM-768x402.png 768w, https:\/\/brookegeery.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-04-at-3.23.05-AM-550x288.png 550w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1484px) 100vw, 1484px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>There\u2019s weed in there, and it\u2019s totally legal!\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(At least) two marijuana dispensaries have popped up east of Sandy on Route 26 now:<\/strong>\u00a0Weed is legal in Oregon but sadly, there\u2019s still no where to buy it in Gov\u2019y. This is likely because each town in Oregon sets its own regulations, and let\u2019s just say Government Camp isn\u2019t run by the most progressive minded people. But there\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mthoodrec.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mt. Hood rec center\u00a0<\/a>in Rhodedendron and on our trip up yesterday we noticed another huge new dispensary across from Mt. Hood Foods that just opened. It is very chill.<\/p>\n<div class=\"avia-iframe-wrap\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cTh7ggdjCSg?feature=oembed&amp;wmode=opaque\" width=\"1500\" height=\"844\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong>They had a public lap park:<\/strong>\u00a0We Are Camp\u2019s constriction means more public terrain and Timberline Parks turned the former HCSC lap park is now open to anyone! Can I get an amen?<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, today is the last day you can ride the lifts to the top of the Palmer Glacier for the summer, but don\u2019t fret!
