But I felt like a real failure when my short attention span and general busyness prevented me from appreciating that 90210 was coming back. Yeah, I’d seen the ads and heard rumors about the return of Brenda, etc., but it hadn’t really set in what this all meant. It wasn’t until Sarah Morrison responded to my IM yesterday with “90210 starts tonight” that I realized I should be really excited about this. I mean, I loved the original. We even had a party in my dorm room for the last episode.

So now that I realized I should care, I got home and set the DVR. Record series. Check. Before I could watch though, the Republican National Convention was on. I hadn’t intented to watch, but since it superceeded Jeopardy, I figured why not, and am I glad I did. The RNC is better than an episode of Saturday Night Live! They even got the guy from Law and Order to host. And then the baby momma drama, I mean, it might has well have been on the CW! But I’d have to say the highlight of the night was one line, “They broke both his arms, but they didn’t break his honor.” Thanks dub-yah, I don’t even know what that means, but coming from you anything sounds profound, right? One more quick thought and then back to the point. I’ll admit I hadn’t heard about McCain’s VP pick until last night, and I am still very confused. Either it is a pathetic attempt to woo Hillary supporters, or McCain really, really doesn’t want to get elected. I think I’ll follow the Republican campaign for comedic value, but I’m definitely voting for Barry. Like, duh.

Ok back to 90210. So it seems that the producers have taken a cue from another great show, and decided to make a new version, with some old favorites, and some new characters to spice things up. It’s pretty much the same as the original but totally different. I mean, there is a black character. The family came from the only place more ridiculous than Minnesota, Kansas! The most misguided of all the original cast, Kelly (who joined a cult and got hoked on coke before it was hip) is a, duh duh duh, a guidance counselor. The new Brenda has HUGE hair. Oh and in an effort to woo action sports enthusiasts, Rad! star Lori Loughlin plays Cindy Walsh, I mean, whatever her name is.

The premiere episode clocked in at two hours. But I didn’t even get though the credits before I was squealing with glee. Silver! That’s Mel and Kelly’s mom’s daughter. NAT! I was right back in high school, and everything was great. But after about 20 minutes, I realized I was just watching a bad WB show. Two hours may have been a bit much, even for me. Will I continue to watch all season though? Of course, I have a DVR and it’s already set. Will the show make it past one season? Probably, since the CW doesn’t seem to kill shows. Do I really feel younger when I’m watching it? No, just sort of pathetic. But what can you do. I love the new TV season!

Archives Now that I have decided I will be 25 for the rest of my life, it’s important that I keep up with what the kids are into.
