Yesterday I took intern boating. Well, more specifically wakeskating behind Silas's Nike-wrapped boat. We tried to convince him that Phil Knight owned the boat, but I don't think he bought it. Anyway, since he's interning for pretty much the only wakeskate specific publication out there, I figured it was probably appropriate that he actually try the sport. He drove the boat, and Silas's truck and commented that it was a bit odd the unpaid intern was in control of such high ticket items. But I believe in trial by fire, and I must say he did quite well. My What a Busy Week!

Today is officially the longest day of the year, go skateboarding day, and a host of other exciting things, but honestly, I am beat. I am sitting here watching Scrubs and it's so fun. But never fear, I will skateboard in a bit. For now, here's why I am so tired. My intern started this week. Now cue the "you have an intern, what does he do?" Well, he does a lot actually, most of it centering around social networking, which as it turns out IS a great tool to grow traffic. I met Nick at Mt. TEXAS

I spent this weekend in the great state of Texas. Even though it is enormous, Texas was actually one of the last states I crossed off my list in the quest for all 50 (I only have a Hawaii to go). But in the past two years I've been back there something like four times. Funny how that works. Anyway, this weekend I was down for a little wakeskate contest at the Texas Ski Ranch, a.k.a. the Disneyland of extreme sports. It's a cable park, skatepark, motocross park, dirt bike track, boat lake, skate shop, etc etc etc. There is also a bar and wireless internet, so in short, it…

Back from the South

I spent the past week or so of my life trekking through the south, listening to Bright Eyes or Country (that's it) and wakeskating a little bit. I was on a feature trip for Alliance and that means hanging out with 18 year old boys and riding around in boats. Not a bad deal over all. I made it back in one piece, although I've developed some nasty allergies (I blame the bayou) and my patterns of speech have gotten a lot less proper. I even caught myself saying y'all at one point.  Louisiana rules though. Nice people, good food, and warm sunny weather. We ate at this place Raising…

In the midst of my first trip to Florida of the year. It happens to be for the kick off of the wakeskate tour. About this time of year I realize how pasty Portland makes my skin and feel self concious, but what can you do? I am down here to cover the event and promote the new site. Life Update: New Site

It's always interesting too see how long it takes for the novelty to wear off of a new blog. Apparently for me it took abut 3 weeks. But I swear that's not the reason I have been so sporadic on the updates. Actually I have been very busy building out the new Alliance Wakeskate site. Since it's pretty much been a solo mission (except for some help making di cut stickers and Tshirts) it's taken up most of my time. But it finally launched last night at midnight! This morning I got an email from Bill McCaffray, publisher of Alliance Multimedia, a.k.a. my boss. It just said "blog about the new wakeskate mag" in the subject and thanks in the body. While he was probably referring to a blog on Alliancewake.com and not here, I am doing both. Hopefully this one will be more interesting than the other though. The new issue of Alliance Wakeskate went live last night. Actually, we were trying to launch a completely new site at the end of February, but as things often seem to go, it didn't happen. I am sorting through four years of old photos, trying to make galleries for this here site. In the process I have learned a few things, the main one being that I used to be really terrible at shooting wakeskating. I mean, we are back in the 10d days (I am now up to 40d) but the focus, composition, and other basic photographic elements were not really happening. (I was just informed that I still suck at taking photos, sometimes I just get lucky.) Back from the South

I spent the past week or so of my life trekking through the south, listening to Bright Eyes or Country (that's it) and wakeskating a little bit. I was on a feature trip for Alliance and that means hanging out with 18 year old boys and riding around in boats. Not a bad deal over all. I made it back in one piece, although I've developed some nasty allergies (I blame the bayou) and my patterns of speech have gotten a lot less proper. Greetings from Florida!

In the midst of my first trip to Florida of the year. It happens to be for the kick off of the wakeskate tour. About this time of year I realize how pasty Portland makes my skin and feel self concious, but what can you do? I am down here to cover the event and promote the new site. Basically, I am killing it with real time results (thanks Jared!) and daily videos. It's hard to write, film and shoot so i've been delegating like crazy. Life Update: New Site

It's always interesting too see how long it takes for the novelty to wear off of a new blog. Apparently for me it took abut 3 weeks. But I swear that's not the reason I have been so sporadic on the updates. Actually I have been very busy building out the new Alliance Wakeskate site. Since it's pretty much been a solo mission (except for some help making di cut stickers and Tshirts) it's taken up most of my time. But it finally launched last night at midnight! This morning I got an email from Bill McCaffray, publisher of Alliance Multimedia, a.k.a. my boss. It just said "blog about the new wakeskate mag" in the subject and thanks in the body. While he was probably referring to a blog on Alliancewake.com and not here, I am doing both. Hopefully this one will be more interesting than the other though. The new issue of Alliance Wakeskate went live last night. Actually, we were trying to launch a completely new site at the end of February, but as things often seem to go, it didn't happen. Memory Lane

I am sorting through four years of old photos, trying to make galleries for this here site. In the process I have learned a few things, the main one being that I used to be really terrible at shooting wakeskating. I mean, we are back in the 10d days (I am now up to 40d) but the focus, composition, and other basic photographic elements were not really happening. (I was just informed that I still suck at taking photos, sometimes I just get lucky.) Yesterday I took intern boating. Well, more specifically wakeskating behind Silas's Nike-wrapped boat. We tried to convince him that Phil Knight owned the boat, but I don't think he bought it. Anyway, since he's interning for pretty much the only wakeskate specific publication out there, I figured it was probably appropriate that he actually try the sport. Today is officially the longest day of the year, go skateboarding day, and a host of other exciting things, but honestly, I am beat. I am sitting here watching Scrubs and it's so fun.
