State #50: Hawaii

Circa 2009 Last week I reached a life goal that I happen to be sort of proud of: I've officially made it to all 50 states. I don't count airports, I have to have actually spent time in the state, breathed the air, walked on the ground etc. Obviously making it to Hawaii and Alaska was the biggest challenge, as most of the states were hit on long-distance road trips. I am trying really hard at this "vacation" thing, but not posting things on the Internet is hard for me. Especially when we hit a place like Pearl Harbor and I am inspired by the most fun photo project yet. Random family portraits. These people give shooting missiles at things a double thumbs up! I have a confession to make. I don't really snowboard or skateboard anymore. I mean, I still go snowboarding and skateboarding, but not with the passion and vigor I once did. I guess it's a natural part of getting older, busier, more self-involved, etc., but it seems it may be time to admit this to my 9 readers (up from 7 a few weeks ago!) In high school I went snowboarding every day. Senior year I had my class schedule organized so I was done by 1 pm, giving me a few hours to get up to Killington and hike the pipe or lap the gondola. I haven't felt like this since AOL first came out with its $3-per-hour dial up service. I remember back in the mid 90s, racking up at least one $200 internet bill before my parents told me I was only allowed 1 hour of internet time per day. Thankfully, it didn't take long for internet service to become unlimited, and the amount of time I spend staring at the computer screen is now only taxing on my social life, not my wallet. Anyway you look at it, I am addicted to the Internet. State #50: Hawaii

Circa 2009 Last week I reached a life goal that I happen to be sort of proud of: I've officially made it to all 50 states. I don't count airports, I have to have actually spent time in the state, breathed the air, walked on the ground etc. Obviously making it to Hawaii and Alaska was the biggest challenge, as most of the states were hit on long-distance road trips. I have a confession to make. I don't really snowboard or skateboard anymore. I mean, I still go snowboarding and skateboarding, but not with the passion and vigor I once did. I guess it's a natural part of getting older, busier, more self-involved, etc., but it seems it may be time to admit this to my 9 readers (up from 7 a few weeks ago!) I haven't felt like this since AOL first came out with its $3-per-hour dial up service. I remember back in the mid 90s, racking up at least one $200 internet bill before my parents told me I was only allowed 1 hour of internet time per day.
