State #5: Vermont

Circa: 1984 No matter how many places I go or live, Vermont will always be home. Even though I wasn't born there, I spent my formative years (ages 3-17) there, and am not afraid to claim it. I have definitely eaten a Vermonster from Ben and Jerry's (taken the factory tour too!) I own a "I Love Vermont" shirt. I've lived in Rutland and Burlington, and some times I even forget to say my t's (only when they fall in the middle of words, though.) Plus it's kind of pretty there. [gallery=39]

Circa mid 1980's I grew up going to our family’s summer cottage on Lake Winnipesauke and my freshman year of college was spent at Plymouth State College. There I complained about the sub par nature of the White Mountains (even though it was the heyday of the Blue Lodge) and worked at a Chinese restaurant. To this day some of my best friends are the ones I met in New Hampshire. [gallery=38]

Circa: Mid 1980's Now that we're getting into New England, things get a little murky in terms of when and what order, and since at this point I'm pretty near over this 50 State blogging project, I'm going to do my best approximation for the rest of it. 7.    Massachusetts I have done the following things in Mass: Seen Piebald, multiple times. Seen lots of other shows at the Middle East. Gotten way too drunk. Made a video about Dunkin Donuts. Skateboarded at both indoor and outdoor spots, and probably lots more. I’ve probably spent more time in Boston than any other city I’ve never lived in, but yet have…

Circa: 1990 I’ve had memorable experiences in Maine in both summer and winter. As a kid we’d go up there camping and my favorite pastime was hunting through tide pools at Acadia national park. Once I was old enough to go places by myself, we’d go up to Sunday River and Sugarloaf to snowboard, and one of my all time best east coast powder days was with Andrew Mutty at Sunday River.

Circa 1996 (photo, the rose garden, 2007-ish) I first made it to Oregon at the tender age of 15 on a trip to High Cascade snowboard camp. It was the first time I'd flown cross country alone, so my parents insisted on getting me an escort, which I promptly ditched at the airport. Hopefully no one lost their job over it. I made it back for camp the next year, then in college found myself driving to Portland almost every weekend, which seemed like a pretty good indication I sort of like the place. Other than a brief east coast/midwest/east coast stint in the middle, I've been living here ever…

Circa 1997 Once upon a time I was snowboarding at Killington during a particularly miserable icy, rainy week. It happened that some dudes from Washington were in town, and after they watched me cut across a trail to ollie a twig, they suggested that perhaps I should make a trip out to Mt. Baker for some real snowboarding. After that initial visit I was hooked, went to college in Bellingham, snowboarded at Mt. Baker and skated the plethora of concrete parks around. I once saw Pearl Jam play in Seattle, just because I could, and made it a point to check out the high school where they filmed 10 Things…

A combination of attempting to be less fat and attempting not to spend so much money has slowed the lunch blogging, but there are a few places still to cross off. Mulligan's was one of them. We showed up promptly at noon and were officially the only customers in there. The bar is big, with a couple pool tables, and apparently on Thursday…

I also made two separate trips to different parts of Jerz with various ex boyfriends, but my MC experience will always be tops on the Jersey list

Since then I’ve spent plenty of time in California, lived in Dana Point and Huntington Beach for a summer, driven almost the entire length of the 101, and considered moving to both So Cal and SF. I don’t mind an occasional visit, and I’ll eat the shit out of some In and Out, but man, I am glad I never officially settled there. [gallery=35]

There I complained about the sub par nature of the White Mountains (even though it was the heyday of the Blue Lodge) and worked at a Chinese restaurant. To this day some of my best friends are the ones I met in New Hampshire. [gallery=38]

States # 7 & 8: Massachusetts and Connecticut

State # 9: Maine

Circa: 1990 I’ve had memorable experiences in Maine in both summer and winter. As a kid we’d go up there camping and my favorite pastime was hunting through tide pools at Acadia national park. Once I was old enough to go places by myself, we’d go up to Sunday River and Sugarloaf to snowboard, and one of my all time best east coast powder days was with Andrew Mutty at Sunday River.

State # 11: Oregon

Circa 1996 (photo, the rose garden, 2007-ish) I first made it to Oregon at the tender age of 15 on a trip to High Cascade snowboard camp. It was the first time I'd flown cross country alone, so my parents insisted on getting me an escort, which I promptly ditched at the airport. Hopefully no one lost their job over it. I made it back for camp the next year, then in college found myself driving to Portland almost every weekend, which seemed like a pretty good indication I sort of like the place. Other than a brief east coast/midwest/east coast stint in the middle, I've been living here ever…

State # 12: Washington

Mulligan’s

3518 SE Hawthorne Blvd Date of Visit: March 11, 2010 Cost for 2 (with tip): $21 Since it's getting close to St. Patrick's day, it seems fitting we'd finally make it to Mulligan's, although, the impending holiday actually has nothing to do with why we went there.

State #13: New Jersey

Circa 1998 (please note, we were there for snowboarding) Oh dirty jerz. I once went to a Stimilon big air contest at Mountain Creek and we stayed at a hotel that was in some way connected to Hugh Heffner and Playboy. I do remember an awesome 70s theme that really made me feel like I was in New Jersey. I also made two separate trips to different parts of Jerz with various ex boyfriends, but my MC experience will always be tops on the Jersey list

State #14: California

Circa 1999. Laguna Beach When I arrived in California at age 18 for my internship at Snowboarder, it was the first time I’d seen a palm tree in real life. “It’s like 90210,” I told my friend who picked me up.
