This weekend I completed what I believe to be my greatest cinematic work yet, a documentary of sorts on the Weena Man, Government Camp's premier dodgeball player. This weekend I found myself covering a wakeboard double up contest in the heart of Portland. A bit out of my comfort zone for sure, but at least I wasn't at the X Games! Lately I've been building a bunch of websites for people. I use wordpress exclusively, and am getting better at it with each project. It's a fun (albeit frustrating) new realm of work that is far more time consuming than I realize! Last weekend was some holiday celebrating the independence of America or something. I don't know, I am not real big on loud holidays, so I celebrated by drinking quietly. But I finally made it out to take advantage of the sweltering Portland heat with a river trip on Sunday. Rather than the shallow, crowded Sandy River, we headed an hour north to the Washougal. Not only does the river have a cool name, but tons of deep water and places to jump into. And we lucked out with the crowds, being that there were none. With all these celebrity deaths of late, it wasn't a question of if, but rather when the exploitation would occur. Usually though, I limit my exploitation of tragedy to a few off-color jokes in close company. But when snowboard company Neff put out a Michael Jackson tribute tee, well, it was the first time I sort of cared about Michael Jackson's death. Frankly it seemed absurd and needed to be mocked, especially since I run a site with the tag line "making fun of snowboarding." I think I enjoy the graffiti in the office/Sweetpea bathroom more than Lisa, judging by the note at least. But the best part is that this originally read, "How long has it been since your last STD check." But my favorite graffiti in said bathroom still has to be when someone added ", yet" next to the Peta sticker with a cute little chicken saying "I am not a nugget." It's since been crossed out.

I have been trying to write this post for awhile now. Originally my angle was going to be if I thought I was a better writer or an editor, because it's very rare that someone is good at both. With all these celebrity deaths of late, it wasn't a question of if, but rather when the exploitation would occur. Usually though, I limit my exploitation of tragedy to a few off-color jokes in close company. But when snowboard company Neff put out a Michael Jackson tribute tee, well, it was the first time I sort of cared about Michael Jackson's death. I think I enjoy the graffiti in the office/Sweetpea bathroom more than Lisa, judging by the note at least. But the best part is that this originally read, "How long has it been since your last STD check." But my favorite graffiti in said bathroom still has to be when someone added ", yet" next to the Peta sticker with a cute little chicken saying "I am not a nugget." It's since been crossed out.

Aaron was concerned having his finger on the brake made him look like a puss, but I assured him that was not what was doing it. For some reason my work day turned into a very brief foray into bike photography. I have been trying to write this post for awhile now. Originally my angle was going to be if I thought I was a better writer or an editor, because it's very rare that someone is good at both. However, I decided that there was no way to write that honestly without sounding cocky while simultaneously writing an appropriate blog for my professional site that would not dissuade people from hiring me. So I've instead decided to instead to just talk about doing both and which I like more. This weekend I completed what I believe to be my greatest cinematic work yet, a documentary of sorts on the Weena Man, Government Camp's premier dodgeball player. The subject is Cory Grove of Cobra Dogs fame, and in one afternoon we filmed everything I need to make this gem. The results, he and I agree, are epic. Even the perpetually salty Jared Souney said it was my best work yet (even if he did follow it up with "usually your videos aren't funny.") This weekend I found myself covering a wakeboard double up contest in the heart of Portland. A bit out of my comfort zone for sure, but at least I wasn't at the X Games! The Wake Jam PDX was in fact, nothing like the X Games. It was totally mellow, I only needed my media pass to get into the cheaper beer garden and of course, I could drive there in 10 minutes. Lately I've been building a bunch of websites for people. I use wordpress exclusively, and am getting better at it with each project. It's a fun (albeit frustrating) new realm of work that is far more time consuming than I realize! Last weekend was some holiday celebrating the independence of America or something. I don't know, I am not real big on loud holidays, so I celebrated by drinking quietly. But I finally made it out to take advantage of the sweltering Portland heat with a river trip on Sunday. Rather than the shallow, crowded Sandy River, we headed an hour north to the Washougal. Not only does the river have a cool name, but tons of deep water and places to jump into. And we lucked out with the crowds, being that there were none.
