Shopping July 2, 2011

The beginning of a new month means a new $10 off $50 purchase at Safeway coupon, which for me means a big shopping trip. Actually what happens is in an attempt to spend at least $50 I end up spending more like $100, but I get lots of stuff and it only happens once a month. This trip was no exception. For a total of $90.36 out of pocket, I saved 54% or $108.04.

I won’t bore you with everything I bought, but I did get a few notable items, including:

2 packages of immitation crab ($.50 each)

75′ of tin foil ($1.74)

Three free 12 packs of soda (for buying 2)

1/2 gallon of fancy not-from-concentrate OJ for $2

2 packs of italian sausage (2.99 each)

2 lbs of frozen shrimp (7.98)

Overall I mostly just bought stuff we needed that was on sale for a decent price, plus a few full-priced items. I scored on the $3 off a $10 produce purchase (and I have a couple more of those coupons) because Jared’s weird veggie meat is considered produce, so it almost made up for it being FULL PRICE. If I planned better and broke my purchase into two I could have saved another $12, but that would have required more planning than I am willing to do.

Oh and the cashier seemed as entertained by couponing as me. So that was fun.
