A Tim Humphreys interview. Really, it’s a Hump Day match made in heaven, what with all the fun ways to play with his name in the title. Then he goes and wins the Eddie “Wall” Ride Invitational event at Mammoth, making him news worthy and boom! There was no better time to interview this Jersey Boy.

How closely does your life in the summer resemble MTV’s Jersey Shore?

3 letters baby. L.G.T. Laundry. Gym. Tanning. I gotta look fresh. That’s all I can say.

Are you more of a “Mike” or a “Pauly”?

Which takes more skill: snowboarding or drifting?

As a “car guy” does the chance to do donuts in snowy parking lots make it easier to get up early to go snowboarding?

There is a very real possibility of that being a reality

As his teammate, has Lago’s new found super stardom effected you in any way?

I get a lot more girls now for sure.

Does the hubbub surrounding the games this year make you wish Slopestyle was an Olympic discipline at all? Or have you considered taking up the u jump?

I used to kinda be a pipe jock. I kinda gave up on it because I didn’t really enjoy it anymore. Slopestyle would be cool as an olympic event, but I think they would make it all lame and standardize shit. Olympic Spec. 30 stair down-rail into an Olympic Spec. Cheese Wedge jump… I could totally picture them having something like that. The thing about Slopestyle that made me really like it was that the course is always unique and different. You roll up to a halfpipe and they’re all the same. Slopestyle could have anything in it.

You do a lot of contests. Why?

I’ve always done a lot of contests. I kinda feel sometimes that I have to do a bunch. I started to get away from comps this year and made more time for filming and shooting photos. There’s a lot more to snowboarding then just contests. I started to get into the backcountry more this year and realized there’s so much more beyond the resorts.

What’s the best contest going right now and why?

US Open. The weather was so good all week and I got to ride with my dad and some friends from home came out because it’s one of the 2 big east coast contests.

Are you bummed you weren’t pro in the late nineties when there were shit tons of big-money big airs?

You have no idea how bad I wished I could have ridden in the late 90s. Snowboarding was so rad back in the day. I mean.. It’s cool now, but back in the day snowboarding was the shit yo!

What’s the most money you’ve ever won at a single contest?

2008 US Open I drove home with 20g’s in my glove box. It was pretty funny going to the bank to deposit all that paper.

Does it make you nervous when you see 16-year-old kids double corking everything now?

It’s all right because those young grasshoppers still have much to learn.

Have you gotten an iPad yet? If not, are you going to?

I almost won an iPad in the Eddie Wall Ride Invitational. I’m not gonna get one though because I already have an iPad nano.. err.. an iPhone.

If you could invent a device that could do anything in the world for you, what would it do and why?

Magic Carpet. I can just jump on and float everywhere. It’s the ultimate Win.

What are your plans for the summer?

Doing some work to my STi when I get home and take it to the track. I’m planning out a surf trip right now to Costa Rica. I’m going to Woodward at Copper for a session, then go to Hood for some time. Lots of skating and doing tons of other cool stuff in between!

How about next season?

I think that I want to spend a bunch of time out in Tahoe next winter so I can have more access to Backcountry riding. I want to try and film a video part as well.

What about five years from now?

I don’t know what I’m doing 5 minutes from now
