Firing Squad: May 19, 2009

Zimmerman hates mini shred so much, that he’s not texting back with his photo pick for this week (either that or he just started bike mechanic school.) So it’s up to me, and I figure well-lit mini shred needs to go against more well-lit mini shred. Yeah,  there is little consequence for either rider in this week’s photos, but guess what, this is a photo contest, not the Olympics. So now you choose, which shot is better?

The Champ

The Challenger

  1. Alex

The challenger is way to tight in the framing. Champ is a better experiment but action doesn’t make it to me so I don’t vote

  2. Do Work

im liking the challenger. good use of creative lighting as well as quality lighting on everything else. nice job on making a mini jam look like a full jam. ata kid

  3. Bullshit.

Champ is the better picture, no questions asked. Challenger clearly has more friends.

  4. skatepark

    skateparks are for skateboards.

  5. Junkbot

kinda weak with the skatepark shot…shred to slash its better

  6. mountain creek

the shots at mountain creek terrain park, not a skatepark

  7. the champs photo looks like something from a zumiez ad or something. its just gay.

  8. Champ photo all day, whats the challenger doing? looks like he has his pants tucked into his bindings and who wears a black jacket to a night photoshoot?

  9. ROBtheBOB

Yo kerrick that’s kinda weak to not support a local truckee kid like horgan… you should take down all your donner lake shots for a comment like that

  10. mad love for tahoe, and more for reppin SF, but its a photo contest, not a scene contest.

  11. the action in the challenger just gets lost in a sea of black. throw the champs outfit on the challenger, and i think it would be easier to distinguish from an unlit background

  12. night slashes rule night bunnyhops. Go Champ, GO !

  13. Isaac Youwere

yeah champ…there’s just more to it…give me two flashes and a disposable camera and I got that challenger beat…

  14. disposable what?

what are you talking about disposable camera? what the hell does that even mean? just because the shot is framed doesnt mean that the shot was taken by a disposable camera jackass. out of the two the champ looks more disposable camera ish than the challenger. obviously the challenger put some thought into their lighting.

and lets face it snowboarders are just trying to be skaters that is why some snowboarders wont wear loud ass colors because agro colors fit a snowboarder stereo type and most snowboarders dont want to be in that spot. where do you think tight pants came from.

  15. ya’ll a bunch o’ tards. yea the challenger’s feature is skatepark inspired, but the champs photo is a skate trick too.

  16. lol

    challengers frame is too cramped.

  17. Jimbo

Did “disposable what” just get alittle butthurt? Sounds like we know who took what picture now…

and you totally lost me with that rant… something about snowboarders being agro and tight pants are why we wear black?? Stay outa the glue cabinet kid

  18. JStarbuck

    Slash and Drag baby!!!!!!!!

  19. you guys are idiots

the challenger’s pic definitely deserves to win. the framing is perfect, that took skill. The lighting is pretty awesome too and I kind of like the black jacket, there’s still an outline of light. I also really like how the snow in the challenger’s pic stands out against the blackness. looks pretty sick.

  20. lala

the lighting in the challenger’s makes the rider look 3D almost. pretty sick

  21. Sal Masekela

Doesn’t anyone know what the hell they are talking about here!!!?? The champ should be the champ of shitty, sloppy lighting. Like, really sloppy lighting with no metering. Obviously Horgan has more friends on here than the challanger, so it’s not even a photo contest anymore, it’s just a popularity contest, which is how most of you probably look at snowboarding. im over this until theres something worthwhile that deserves da kine.

  22. Melinda

CHAMPS photo is way more visually pleasing. which that is what we are going for correct? c’mon challenger. not even a contest! GO HORGAN
