I can sympathize to an extent, especially since,at 38, Im ahead of you in the curve. The skating died for me when I moved to SLC. Thats not to say SLC isnt a great skate town its just that I didnt know anyone and then you get the 6 months of winter where you cant really skate plus this was in the 90's well before the skatepark days of today blah blah blah. Snowboarding replaced skating because its sooo much easier and was something new to get excited about. I still have the same zeal for riding that ive always had but now age is seriously catching up to me. I find myself very tentative in the park ( thats the beginnings of the end of progression) because if I fall hard it can be days if not weeks to recover. Park jumps over 30ft are dead to me and totally overcast icy days just get skipped altogether. Im even thinking in my head that maybe in the next 10 years or so a beach life wouldnt be so bad. Of course Im also thinking maybe a PNW life wouldnt be so bad either so I can get slush summer riding in because the spring slush and deep pow days still allow me to shine. All in all I think the slow down is inevitable for most. In fact most just stop altogether so even if you have slowed down you are still way ahead of most folks.
