The Skatepark Map Lives!

We're in the process of bidding farewell to the office about the Vegan bakery. I'd make some baking puns about it being bittersweet, but actually I'm not that sad. I will not miss every person who stops by saying they could never work above a bakery because they wouldn't stop eating, etc. Plus we have about three times as much space overall and I have my own office now. Real pro like. We've been moving in between traveling the past couple weeks, and my office is pretty much done. Of course I spent a solid day (and some intern hours) on the most important part: ressurecting the skatepark map. It's…

How To Get Users Engaged on Facebook

I've really been embracing this social media business lately. I know that's my job and I've been running a website since the dawn of websites, but admittedly, I've only recently embraced the full potential of Facebook. I'm still not convinced it has any sort of staying power in the ever-changing social media landscape, but I have finally been seeing the usefulness -- Not just driving traffic, but also finding joy in posting something that gets "good engagement." So how does one get good engagement on Facebook, you may ask? Between Yobeat, and some freelance work I've been doing, I've finally got it figured out. It's not asking questions. It's not…

Crazy Cat Lady For Life!

Now that the cat is out of the bag about my first tattoo (sorry mom and dad!) I figure it's a good excuse to post Suicide Girls-style pictures of myself on my blog! That's what people who have tattoos do, right? I mean, I'm new to this whole thing, so you tell me. Also, being a writer and there being a ridiculous back story, I guess I'll share that too. I didn't plan on getting a giant tattoo of Tyra on my bicep -- or really getting a tattoo at all two weeks ago -- but I had been casually tossing around the idea of getting a small cat tattoo…

Intern at Work

Got myself a new Intern. He's already been thrown onto a bus with a bunch of dirt bags, visited every snowboard related brand in Portland, and met just about anyone who's anyone in Northwest snowboarding. While some have said all he's learning is "how to be cool in Portland," I'll have you know, I also put him to work. Remember my last intern? Yeah, he works at Leo Burnett now.
